Originally, discordia.ch was on a server called Eris, but lateron had to move to Josephine. So this was on Josephine (in honour of Josephine Baker, a discordian saint). Josephine was a Sparcstation 10; 80 MB of Ram, and probably 4GB Diskspace. She had two heads, 75Mhz each, which made her pretty fast. She was running Debian GNU/Linux 2.2 or even newer, Kernel 2.2.19 or newer, with security patches. So stack-smashing attacks won't work out of the box, and in any case, those for x86 won't work anyway, my dear script kiddies:

Nice, huh? Well, rpc.statd has been removed anyway. I don't consider a portscan to be an attack, after all, it's just die electronic equivalent of peeping through windows; but trying to overflow a buffer is the electronic equivalent of smashing a window; and definitly a break-in attempt.
Recently josephine v3 (after v1 and v2 which were Sparc10s, v3 was an Ultra1) had to be retired, replaced by rapunzel. Rapunzel is an UltraSparc E250. Yes, that's a big machine. Anyway,
I'll try to make this server somehow friendly and easy to use, despite of my security-cautiousness. ;) You should not normally run into any of my security-patches and fortifyments.
Believe it or not, the webpages are XHTML 1.0/transitional. Except one tag which hasn't been included in the specs right now (apart from the dreaded ). We're pretty sure they will.
